Western Digital external drives are the most common drives we recover. Many WD portable drives have the USB connector built into the circuit board, so a broken USB port can’t be fixed by swapping the enclosure.

Many My Passport and My Book drives encrypt data using a chip on the USB board, even without a password. If that board fails, we need to repair or reproduce it to read the data.
How it works
We assess the drive, tell you what’s wrong and what recovery will cost, and only go ahead when you agree. We work on a copy of the drive wherever possible, so your original isn’t put at further risk.
